lake with reflections

Find Tell Share is a new podcast co-hosted in Sheffield by Chris Sissons, Market Together and Jemma Rosenthal, Find Your Voice.  It’s the storyteller’s podcast, featuring everything storytelling, especially if you use stories to promote your business or charity (and you should!).  We plan to produce an edition once a month with a special guest.

This month’s guest is Roger Cheetham, Transformational Resilience.  His story is about how walking his dog transformed his life forever.  In addition we discuss sleeping in Sheffield’s Peace Gardens, character development in anime, how hard is it to tell a lockdown story and Brendon Burchard’s debt to Roald Dahl.

Roger Cheetham, Transformational Resilience

This episode’s guest, Roger Cheetham is lucky to be alive. He faced a horrific life-threatening ordeal in June 2013 and in his own words has gone from victim, to survivor to “thriver”, as he now describes himself.

Roger used his own resilient journey of overcoming trauma to help develop the resilience “muscle” in individuals and organisations from classrooms to boardrooms. Moving forward Roger envisages he will be spending a lot of time in front of classrooms and assemblies, as he plays his part in the UK government’s “Catch Up” in Education initiative, as Roger believes with more resilient minds and hearts and the tools to achieve them, our next generation will achieve so much more, so much sooner. Find out all about Roger’s story and how he’s gone on to inspire thousands of others, worldwide, in this inaugural episode of our “Find, Tell Share” podcast.

Chris Sissons, Market Together

Co-host Chris Sissons has always loved stories and these days strides the streets of Sheffield on the lookout for new stories.  He was a Community Development Worker for 30 years and consequently is sceptical about almost everything!

Chris has been self-employed for the last 7 years and enjoyed every minute.  He started because he fancied the lifestyle and he’s still working out what he’s supposed to be doing!  “I’m a marketing coach who uses stories. Stories open up business development in surprising ways.  I believe the distinction between real work and paid work is really important.  Many people are unhappy because they cannot find time for their real work – as we unravel the lockdown, we’re all challenged to step up and offer the world are own unique insights.  They won’t always work but how else do we find the ones that do?”

I run Telling Stories: Making Business, online storytelling for business owners, on second and fourth Thursdays.  It’s an opportunity to hear a business owner’s story and to offer feedback.  We improve our own storytelling when we help others.  Find the programme here: https://markettogether.co.uk/telling-stories-making-business/ .  This page is regularly updated.  Click on link in right hand column to register for your Zoom link.

The blog post I mention, Roles: Crossing the Line – is here: https://storiesinbusiness.org.uk/roles-crossing-the-line/

Toradora! has a complicated history, it began as a Japanese light novel series by Yuyuko Takemiya.  There have been several incarnations of the story over the years but presumably she is the person who first developed the characters.  Anime allows for a lot of space to develop a well-plotted story – this one is 25 24 minute episodes!  Find it on anime sites such as Crunchyroll or Funimation – you may have to put up with adverts or it’s on Amazon Prime and possibly other streaming services.

I also mentioned the film Peaceful Warrior

Then I also sang from Charlie and the chocolate factory, that was one of Roger’s films.

Jemma’s poem

The Peace Gardens

A Garden of Peace

Meet us Here.

Where I lay, gently resting my worn out head,

Come meet us here..

Rest your tired hearts, and lay in the gentle stillness and smell the soft cut grass, let it soothe your mind, as your heart beats to the rhythms of trust.

A Garden of Peace, found in the present, in sweet surrender, for it has no other time,

So come, lay your head next to mine,

In the Garden of Peace.
